What Is Camp Sloggett?

Built as a family retreat in 1925 by the Sloggett family, and donated in 1938 to the YWCA, people from all walks of life have enjoyed the beauty and seclusion of the campsite for over 75 years. Its unique location—in a tropical evergreen forest at the top of Waimea Canyon—makes it a refreshing departure from the norm.

A lodge, cottage, and campgrounds owned and operated by YWCA Kaua'i in stunning Koke'e State Park, Camp Sloggett is an ideal destination for everything from an adventurous weekend in the woods to a memorable family reunion or company retreat. We offer a rustic and peaceful atmosphere in the heart of the Koke’e forest in the Waimea Canyon State Park.

Wake to the misty peaks of Kawaikini and Mount Wai’ale’ale. Pause to watch the sun play over the multi-hued cliffs of Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” Stay at the hub of 45 miles of maintained hiking trails, leading you from the majestic Kalalau Lookout and its dramatic view of Kalalau Valley and the Na Pali coastline, to the floor of arid Waimea Canyon. Camp Sloggett is the perfect retreat for a multi-day trip where guests can fully explore the diverse landscapes of Kokeʻe State Park and Waimea Canyon and enjoy a variety of plants and animals, many of which are endangered or unique to the region. Come to YWCA’s Camp Sloggett for an unforgettable experience that will create memories for a lifetime.
